Levi F. Wethington, 85, of Shelbyville passed away Sunday, September 30, 2012 at his residence. Born July 19, 1927, in Monticello, Kentucky, he was the son of Noah and Dorothy (Hughes) Wethington. He married Annis Raney on June 26, 1948, and she preceded him in death on May 27, 2003. Survivors include his daughters, Mary Ann Wethington of Shelbyville and Liz Ross of Greenwood; son, Pete (wife, Karen) Wethington of Shelbyville; sister, Lala (husband, Ron) Isom of Columbus; grandchildren, Jason Hignite, Tristan Wethington Ross, Jesica Ann (husband, Matt) Catania, Noah Levi (wife, Nikki) Wethington and Nolan Lee Wethington; and a great-granddaughters, Rachel Hignite and Olivia Ann Wethington. He was also preceded in death by his parents. Mr. Wethington was a member of First Baptist Church. He graduated from Greenwood High School in 1945. Mr. Wethington and his late wife owned and operated several Kentucky Fried Chicken Restaurants until retiring in 1997. He was a Army Air Corp veteran, serving during World War II. Mr. Wethington loved gardening, wood working and spending time in the woods with his grandchildren fishing and hunting. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 4, 2012 at the funeral home, with his grandson, Jason Hignite and Pastor David Love officiating. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery Memorial contribution may be made to Salvation Army, 136 E. Washington St., Shelbyville, Indiana 46176.
