Linda Lee Duba, 77, of Shelbyville, Indiana passed away peacefully October 26, 2016 at her home with loving family by her side. Born April 9, 1939 in Cazenovia, New York, the only surviving child of George F. and Vinnie Marie (Roberts) Sipfle, Linda married her devoted high school sweetheart Dave Duba Sr. in Cazenovia, New York, June 28, 1958. The couple proudly welcomed Denise Duba Mills (Kim) and David Duba Jr. Along with the children, Dave added two brothers and three sisters to Linda’s life, Betty, Don, Ed, Sandi and Christine. Linda’s children have both blessed them with bountiful grandchildren and great grandchildren, Whitney Brynne Pugh (Jakob Knutsen), Alexandra Duba, Lauren Pugh Ball (Eric Ball), David Duba III, Amanda Duba, James David Ball, Levi Knutsen, and Benjamin Ball. Her expanded-family grandchildren include Sam Greathouse, Lindsay Mills, Courtney Perry, and Kristopher Mills. In addition, her family increased with the arrival of three cousins in her youth; (Fredrick deceased) Carol D Osborn, Jamesville, NY and Douglas V Osborne, Cicero, NY. And then there was her little dog too.
Linda attended Fabius Central High School in Fabius, New York; Carrier Business College and Syracuse University; Indiana Central University after moving to Indiana 42 years ago. Semi-retired from Indiana Securities, LLC having enjoyed 36 years in the financial planning field holding multiple securities licenses.
Linda served as Board member at The Julian Center and Girls Inc., where she was active with the Scholarship Committee, Finance Chairman and an active member at First United Methodist Church, Past President of Indianapolis chapter of Soroptimist International and Ada’s House. She was also a member of several professional organizations.
She enjoyed dancing and skiing, boating and cruising, party planning, cross country family travels, and sharing her love for cooking and crocheting. She was an accomplished seamstress and was very proud of having created her daughter’s May Court dress, made suits and coats, reupholstered furniture and sewn draperies for her homes and others. Linda always had a kind heart and a helping hand and will be dearly missed by her loved ones and many friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1PM on Sunday, November 6th at the First United Methodist Church in Shelbyville, Indiana with the Reverends Robert Campbell and Colin Cress officiating. Calling hours will precede the service from 11:00-1:00PM. In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the First United Methodist Church at 34 Washington Street, Shelbyville or Hospice of South Central Indiana. The family is forever grateful for the dedicated loving care Linda received from her Hospice nurses and volunteers in her final days.
