Lois A. Sipes, 81, of Shelbyville passed away Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at Ashford Place Health Campus in Shelbyville.
Born November 30, 1929, in Shelby County, Indiana, she was the daughter of Melburn T. and Opal (Joyce) Willis. She married Clifford B. Sipes on May 2, 1947, and he survives.
Besides her husband, survivors include her son, Michael C. (wife, Debra) Sipes of Shelbyville; daughters, Lynn S. (husband, Ronnie) Conway of Shelbyville and Gail A. (husband, Joe) Bratcher of Caneyville, Kentucky; grandchildren, Craig Michael Sipes, Jennifer Fortune and Ronnie Crafton; and great-grandchildren, Tim Compton, Ryan Compton, Carson Sipes, Kelci Sipes, Riley Fortune and Reese Fortune.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, Maynard T. Willis and Ralph Willis.
Mrs. Sipes worked for J.C. Penney Co. for many years and for Walmart in Shelbyville. She owned and operated Feeling Young Figure Salon in the BelAire Plaza from 1984 to 1985.
She helped organize the Plain Jane Home Economics Club. She was a member of the Shelbyville Moose Lodge Auxiliary and Shelbyville Eagles Auxiliary, where she was the first secretary and held the position for several years.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 pm, Thursday, September 22, 2011 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St.
Funeral services will be at 7 pm, Thursday at the funeral home, with Merry Popplewell officiating.
