Lois “Louise” McKee, 89, of Pelham, Alabama, formerly of Shelbyville and Indianapolis, passed away Tuesday, November 12, 2019 at Shelby Baptist Health Systems in Alabaster, Alabama.
She was born January 10, 1930 in Russell Springs, Kentucky, the daughter of Marvin G. and Catherine Rose (George) Stephens.
Louise is survived by her daughter, Debra Yates and husband, Tom, of Pelham, Alabama; daughter-in-law, Pat Wilkes of Fishers; brother, Phillip Stephens of Phoenix, Arizona; sister, Joyce Farlow of Englewood, Florida; grandchildren, Ryan Counts and wife, Amanda, Robyn Counts, and Jennifer Wilkes; great-grandchildren, Ashley Devine, Courtney Brown, Harrison Counts, Haley Harrison and Vana Wilkes; great-great-grandchildren, Everly Harrison and Greyson Devine; father of her children, Earl Wilkes of Shelbyville; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Steve Wilkes; brothers, Arlin Stephens, Welby Stephens, Joe Stephens and Cordell Stephens; and sister, Nona Chappelow Jenkins.
Louise owned and operated “Louise’s Salon of Beauty” in Shelbyville and then in Indianapolis for over 40 years, retiring in 1992.
She loved spending time with her family, her flower gardens, painting and drawing and interior decorating.
Louise also loved to travel, especially going on cruises.
Visitation will be from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, November 16, 2019 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
Funeral services will be at 4:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with Pastor Rob Miffler officiating.
Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Shelbyville.
