Lois M. Parkinson

Lois M. Parkinson, 85, of Shelbyville, died Saturday, Dec. 9, 2006, at Miller's Merry Manor East in Indianapolis. Born Sept. 6, 1921, in Martinsville, she was the daughter of Charles and Leafy Mae (Dilley) Kirk, who both preceded her in death. She married Robert Maurice Parkinson on Aug. 30, 1952, and he preceded her in death on May 27, 1998. Survivors include one daughter, Cheryl (husband, Ken) Kern of Indianapolis; one sister, Phyllis Wampler of Martinsville; one brother, Robert Kirk of Morgan County; two grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; and six stepgreat-grandchildren. Mrs. Parkinson had been a homemaker and a dairy farmer with her husband since 1952. Prior to that, she had worked in the Morgan County Auditor's office. She graduated in 1939 from Martinsville High School. Mrs. Parkinson was a member of Zion United Church of Christ in Shelby County. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Carmony-Ewing Broadway Chapel, Freeman Family Funeral Homes, 232 W. Broadway St. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Dr. Mary Lundgren officiating. Burial will be in Zion Cemetery in Shelby County. Memorial contributions may be made to The Buck Creek Players Inc. or the Shelby County Players in care of Freeman Family Funeral Homes, 232 W. Broadway St., Shelbyville, IN 46176.
