Loren E. Wagner, 90, of Shelbyville passed away Friday, August 24, 2018 at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana in Columbus.
He was born September 19, 1927, in Shelbyville, the son of Columbus and Effie (Lane) Wagner. On March 20, 1948, he married Norma “Joan” (Snyder) Wagner, and she preceded him in death on May 15, 2017.
Loren is survived by his daughter, Angela Smith of Shelbyville; son, Jeffrey Wagner of Shelbyville; grandchildren, Jeffrey Smith, Mandy Jo Smith and Jessica Wagner; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to Joan, Loren was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Paul Wagner, Harold Wagner and Robert Wagner; and sister, Mae Lee.
Loren graduated from Shelbyville High School in 1945.
He was a US Army veteran, serving during World War II, as a medic.
Loren was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.
He retired as a Senior Information Systems Manager for Western Electric, with 30 years of service in 1982. He was a member of the Pioneers of America, a computer organization, and obtained two patents in the computer field.
Loren was also a member of the American Legion Post No. 70, member and past president of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Aerie Lodge No. 766 and a lifetime member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks.
He was an avid golfer, played quarterback in high school and also enjoyed playing baseball.
Loren supported the Shelbyville Band Boosters.
Inurnment will be at a later date at Forest Hill Cemetery.
Services have been entrusted to Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
