Lorrene Tate, 79, of Shelbyville, died Friday, April 22, 2005, at Community Hospital East, in Indianapolis.
Born Sept. 9, 1925, in Eufoula, Okla., she was the daughter of Chris and Minnie (Kirby) Williams. She married Gilbert D. Tate on Oct. 28, 1944, and he preceded her in death on Dec. 6, 2001.
Survivors include one son, Doug (wife, Cindy) Tate of Shelbyville; and four sisters, Oneta Mastorakos of Roseville, Calif., Reba Myers of Eufoula, Phyllis Needham of Tulare, Calif., and Robbie Ann Williams of Tulsa, Okla.
She also was preceded in death by one brother, Wallace Williams.
Mrs. Tate had been a resident of Morristown since December. She moved to Shelbyville in September of 2002 from Visalia, Calif. Due to her husband?s employment, they had lived in Florida, California, North Carolina, Indiana, Texas, New Mexico, Kansas and, from 1975 to 1984, in Indonesia.
She had been an office manager working for different companies, retiring in 1988.
Mrs. Tate graduated in the mid 1940s from Eufoula High School.
She was a member of First Christian Church and Morristown Extension Club. She attended Little Blue River Friends Church, where she was a member of the missionary society.
Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Little Blue River Friends Church, 142 S. 1000W.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church, with the Rev. Peggy Caldwell officiating.
Interment will be in Hanover Cemetery, in Shelby County.
Frazier Funeral Home, 124 E. North St. in Morristown, is handling the arrangements.
