Louis W. Disser, DDS, 84, of Shelbyville, passed away Thursday, April 28, 2011 at Veteran's Administration Hospital in Indianapolis.
Born September 16, 1926, in Shelbyville, he was the son of Ralph J. and Mary (Klare) Disser. He married Carolyn Tudor on January 5, 1985, and she survives.
Other survivors include one daughter; brothers, Paul R. (wife, Lucy) Disser of Nashville, Tennessee and Jack D. (wife, Shirley) Disser of Shelbyville; two granddaughters; several nieces and nephews and his dogs, Blue, Zoey and Babe.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Ralph K. Disser and Karl F. Disser; and a sister, JoAnn Disser.
Dr. Disser was a lifelong Shelbyville resident and a dentist for more than 40 years, retiring in 1997.
After graduating for Shelbyville High School in 1944, he went to the Merchant Marine Academy, served in the U.S. Army during World War II, attended Butler University undergraduate school; graduated from Indiana University of Dentistry in 1953; and was later a dentist in the U.S. Air Force.
Dr. Disser was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Fraternal Order of the Eagles, Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion.
Private family services will be observed.
