Lowell W. Boring, 90, of Morristown passed away Thursday, January 26, 2012 at Ashford Place Health Campus.
Born April 9, 1921, in Shelby County, he was the son of John H. and Hazel E. (Jessup) Boring. He married his wife of 69 years, Alberta M. Watts Cotton on May 2, 1939, and she preceded him in death on October 11, 2008.
Survivors include his sons, Terry (wife, Judy) Boring and John (wife, Diane) Boring, both of Shelbyville and Jan (wife, Millie) Boring of Northville, Michigan; grandchildren, Carla (husband, Steve) Antle, Tim Boring, both of Shelbyville, Jay (wife, Denise) Boring of Franklin, Marissa (husband, Donn) Bousquet of Farmington Hills, Michigan and Kyle (wife, Jill) Boring of Northville, Michigan; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Carl Boring, Harold Boring and Leon Boring; and sisters, Iris Wood, Eileen Wood, Lela Bauserman and Lorraine Hauk.
Mr. Boring was a lifelong Shelby County resident and graduated from Morristown High School in 1939.
He had retired from Soil Service Inc. in 1987; drove a bus for Shelby Eastern schools for 21 years; owned and operated a milk route for 21 years; and worked at Walmart from 1995 to 2005.
Mr. Boring was a member of Morristown United Methodist Church and Morristown Lions Club and had served as a member of the advisory board for Hanover Township for 12 years.
Lowell was an avid basketball fan, high school and IU, enjoyed harness racing and especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, January 30, 2012 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Frazier Chapel, 124 E. North St. in Morristown, and from 12:30 to 1 pm, Tuesday at Morristown United Methodist Church, 221 S. Washington St. in Morristown.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the church, with Pastor Amy Artis and Bill Farmer officiating.
Interment will be in Asbury Cemetery.
