M. Clyde "Skeet" Wiley, 82, of Shelbyville, died Friday, Oct. 7, 2005, at Heritage Manor.
Born Oct. 23, 1922, in New Palestine, he was the son of the late Mason I. and Lulu (Miller) Wiley. He married Minnie L. Hawker on May 27, 1950, and she survives.
Other survivors include one daughter, Gayle L. Wiley (husband, George E. Brunner) of Shelbyville; one son, Jeffery David (wife, Kathleen) Wiley of Greenwood; one brother, Dale Wiley of Columbus; one sister, Marjorie Adams of Greenwood; and five grandchildren, Will Brunner, Drew Brunner, Angel Buchberger, Rob Ambrose and Gayle Hanlin.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Linda M. Ambrose; and two brothers, William Wiley and Cecil Wiley.
Mr. Wiley owned and operated Wiley's Grocery store for 36 years, retiring in 1986.
He graduated from Shelbyville High School in 1940 and from Indiana University, Indianapolis.
Mr. Wiley was a Coast Guard veteran, serving as a fireman 1st class.
He was a member of American Legion, Eagles Lodge, life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and charter member of Moose Lodge. He attended First United Methodist Church.
Mr. Wiley enjoyed playing golf, bowling, playing cards and spending time with his grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Carmony-Ewing Harrison Street Chapel, Freeman Family Funeral Homes, 819 S. Harrison St.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Robert Campbell officiating.
Interment will be in Concord Cemetery, Shelby County, with military rites conducted by local veterans organizations.
