Mabel Alice Theobald

March 21, 1910 — January 29, 2008

Mabel Alice Theobald, 97, of Shelbyville passed away Tuesday, January 29, 2008, at Waldron Health Care Home. Born March 21, 1910, in Bowbells, N.D., she was the daughter of Edd and Ritta Mae (Yaw) Mitchell. She married Carroll L. Wicker on June 2, 1928, and he preceded her in death on August 6, 1963. She married Russell Theobald on September 11, 1965, and he preceded her in death on November 3, 1984. Survivors include her daughter, Vera M. Jones Brown of Franklin; grandchildren, Julia A. Jones of Shelbyville and Michael E. Jones of Manilla; two great-granddaughters; and several great-great-grandsons. She also was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Harry Mitchell and Rowland Mitchell; and several step-children. Mrs. Theobald had been employed at Elanjay garment factory and Shelby Garment Co.; at Naval Ordinance in Indianapolis for two years during World War II; and was an Avon representative for more than 40 years. She was a member of Little Blue River Baptist church and former member of Order of Eastern Star in Morristown. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Freeman Family Funeral Homes, Carmony-Ewing Harrison Street Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Robert Langdon officiating. Burial will be in Asbury Cemetery in Morristown. Memorial contributions may be made to Little Blue River Baptist Church, 3515 N. 500 E, Shelbyville, IN 46176.
