Margaret Ann "Grammy" Walker

Margaret Ann “Grammy” Walker, 90, of Shelbyville, passed away Monday, April 3, 2017 at Heritage House of Shelbyville. She was born September 27, 1926, in Shelbyville, the daughter of Charles F. and Sadie (Miley) Schuler. On April 27, 1947, Maggie married Paul Walker, and he preceded her in death on February 10, 2002. Margaret is survived by son, Jeffrey Walker and wife, Patricia, of Gunnison, Colorado; granddaughters, Jill Evans and husband, Michael, of Shelbyville and Amy Johnson and significant other, Eddie, of Speedway; grandsons, Eric Neeb and wife, Julie, of Shelbyville, Brian Walker of Casper, Wyoming, and Brent Walker and wife, Rose, of Grand Junction, Colorado; great-grandchildren, Michael Paul Evans, Matthew Evans, Madisan Johnson, C.J. Johnson, Kaidence Neeb, and Draven Neeb; two step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Penny Neeb; and brother, Charles “Bud” Schuler. Margaret graduated from Waldron High School in 1944. She was a member of First United Methodist Church. Margaret formerly worked for Commercial Motor Freight of Indiana, retiring in 1983. She was also a member and past president of the American Legion Auxiliary. Margaret enjoyed quilting and baking, often entering her work in the open class at the Shelby County Fair. She loved her family and the time she spent with them. Throughout the years, she has been known as “Grammy” to her family and their friends. Margaret also loved her great-granddogs, Brutus, Lucky and Sam. She was preceded in death by her great-granddog, Little Penny. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 6, 2017 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, April 7, 2017 at the funeral home, with Rev Robert Campbell officiating. Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Shelbyville. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Greater Indiana Chapter, 50 E. 91st St., Suite 100, Indianapolis, Indiana 46240 or St. Francis Hospice, 8111 S. Emerson Avenue, Indianapolis, Indiana 46237.
