Margaret Ann Karnes, 74, of Shelbyville, passed away Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at Franciscan St. Francis Health in Indianapolis.
She was born January 7, 1944, in Greenfield, the daughter of John Munden and Cora Elizabeth (Johnson) Munden Wadley. On May 16, 1960, she married her husband of 57 years, Allan Gene Karnes, and he survives.
Margaret is also survived by her daughters, Sue Moore and husband, Rod, Kimberly D. Karnes, Margaret Jean Karnes and Amanda J. Leffler, all of Shelbyville; sons, Gary Wayne Karnes and wife, Mandy and Larry Scott Karnes and wife, Gina, both of Shelbyville; brother, John Munden Jr. of Greenfield; sisters, Mary Jane Lee and husband, Ron, of Indianapolis, Penny Hunter of Huntingburg, and Vicky Thiery and husband, Terry, of Greenfield; grandchildren, Mandy, John, Justin, Sabrina, Roddy, Miranda, Jessika, Samantha, Alexis, Dallas, Jennifer, Chelsea, Mackenzie, Larry Jr. “Bub”, and Reggie K.; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Allan Karnes Jr.; brother, Donnie Munden; sisters, Sharon Kinser, Peggy Stamps, Jaqueline Stamps, and Connie Karnes and husband, Charles.
Margaret enjoyed country music. She also enjoyed dancing and appeared on American Bandstand in 1960. One of Margaret’s pastimes was riding her mobility scooter around.
She cherished the time she spent with her children and grandchildren.
Margaret liked to go for rides in the country and around Brown County with her husband.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to Noon, Saturday, July 8, 2017 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
Funeral services will be at Noon, Saturday at the funeral homes, with Pastor Seth Taylor officiating.
Interment will be at Miller Cemetery in Shelby County.
