Margaret Anne “Peggy” (Tracy) Myer, 85, of Morristown, passed away at her son’s home, August 26th, 2022.
Born January 27, 1937, in Indianapolis, the daughter of Beryl and Mary (Rigdon) Tracy, Peggy spent most of her life in the Morristown area.
She is survived by her sons, Mark Myer and wife, Rebecca, of Morristown, and Paul Myer and wife, Kay, of New Whiteland; step-daughters, Jaime Reber of Indianapolis, Amanda Chestovich and husband, Mike, of North Vernon; grandchildren, Macy And Morgan Myer, Noah, Hannah, Bethany, and Judah Chestovich, Kimberly Ettinger and husband, Joe, Kaine Duckworth and wife, Amanda; great-grandchildren, Austin and Audrey Duckworth, and Brady Hudson; sister, Martha Sutherland of Greenfield; sisters-in-law, Marjorie Tracy of Morristown, and Marilyn Pearson of Hobart, as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Bill Tracy, David Tracy, and Phillip Tracy, infant sons, Owen and Neal Myer; and infant grandson Matthew.
After graduating from Morristown High School in 1954, she continued her education at Winona School of Nursing in Indianapolis. After working as an operating room nurse in Alexandria, Louisiana, where her then husband Harold Myer served in the United States Air Force, Peggy returned to Morristown as a nurse for Dr. Thomas Jean for over 20 years. From 1972 to 1993, Peggy managed the Bluebird Restaurant and developed the successful Dinner Theater program. She was very active in the Morristown Community serving on the Park Board, working with the Lion’s Club for Derby Days, Shelby Eastern Schools textbook committee, working as a substitute teacher at both the elementary and junior senior high school. She served a term as Morristown Clerk-Treasurer, taught Sunday school at Morristown Christian Church and was a member of the local Mu Beta Club. Following in her mother’s footsteps, Peggy served as Republican Precinct Committeeman for over 20 years. She was a member of the Morristown Nazarene Church.
A Gathering of Friends will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2022 from 10:00am-12:00pm at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Frazier Chapel, 124 E. North Street in Morristown. A Celebration of Peggy’s life will follow.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Virginia Keaton Scholarship Fund in care of First Merchants Bank, 2350 Market Place Blvd, Shelbyville, IN 46176.
