Margaret Elizabeth Poe

Margaret Elizabeth Poe, 95, of Shelbyville passed away Saturday, November 20, 2010 at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. Born March 3, 1915 in Ontario, Canada, she was the daughter of John and Margaret M. (Nutkins) Dart. She married Arthur C. Poe on December 26, 1936, and he preceded her in death on August 6, 1994. Survivors include her daughter, Nancy Annette Moore of Shelbyville; grandchildren, Victoria Ann Hall (significant other, Jaime Hernandez) of Indianapolis, Robert Leslie Moore of Muncie and Kenneth James Moore of Shelbyville; great-grandchildren, Stephen Michael Hall of Waukasha, Wisconsin, Christopher Ryan Moore and Taylor Marie Moore, both of Shelbyville; nephews, Peter R. Dart and John L. Dart, both of Landner, B.C., Canada; two great-nephews and one great-nieces. She was also preceded in death by her parents; brother, John Thomas "Jack" Dart; and great-grandson, David Jason Hall. Mrs. Poe came to the United States after getting married, moving to Shelbyville in 1938, later relocating in Indianapolis and returning to Shelbyville in 1995. She was formerly employed at the family business of Art Poe's Moving and Storage for 18 years. Mrs. Poe loved spending time with her family and had made a quilt for every family member; she especially enjoyed making baby quilts. Her other hobbies included sewing, scrapbooking, reading and working in her flowers. She collected stamps and spoons. She was a member of West Street United Methodist Church and attended Shelby Senior Services. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 pm, Friday at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. Funeral services will be at 10 am Saturday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Miller Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to West Street United Methodist Church, 629 S. West St., Shelbyville, Indiana 46176.
