Margaret T. Kirk, 90, of Muncie, died Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2005, at Muncie Health Care, in Muncie.
She was born Aug. 28, 1915, in Shelbyville. She married William P. Kirk on April 10, 1937, and he preceded her in death on Oct. 31, 1989.
Survivors include one daughter, Ann (husband, Malcolm) Metzler of Muncie; and two grandchildren, William Scott (wife, Jen) Metzler of Greenfield and Darcy Metzler of Miami, Fla.
She also was preceded in death by three sisters, Jean Hepp, Charlotte Keenan and Mary Ann Guy.
Mrs. Kirk was a former Shelbyville resident.
She was a former substitute teacher for Shelby Community Schools for 28 years, and a home tutor.
Mrs. Kirk graduated in 1933 from Shelbyville High School and attended DePaul University and Indiana University.
She had been secretary to the Community Chest, which was a forerunner to SCUFFY; active in Shelbyville Community Concert Series; and named outstanding volunteer of Girls Inc. in 1994.
Mrs. Kirk was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority at IU; AL chapter of P.E.O. Sisterhood, where she was past president; Tri Kappa chapter, History Club and longtime member of First United Methodist Church, all of Shelbyville. She also attended High Street United Methodist Church, in Muncie.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Carmony-Ewing Broadway Street Chapel, Freeman Family Funeral Homes, 232 W. Broadway St.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Robert Campbell officiating.
Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
