Margaret V. Thurston, 88, of Shelbyville passed away Monday, February 22, 2010, at Ashford Place Health Campus.
Born July 10, 1921, in Hendricks Township, she was the daughter of Thomas and Lorene (Murnan) Thurston.
Survivors include her brother, Carroll E. (wife, Charlotte) Thurston of Shelbyville; and nieces, Ann (husband, Brent) Houseworth of Fairland and Amy Thurston of Glenn Dale, Md.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Marjorie E. Thurston.
Ms. Thurston was a lifelong resident of Shelby County, living in Hendricks Township and in Shelbyville for the last 30 years.
She was formerly employed in the accounting department at Major Hospital, retiring in 2005.
Ms. Thurston was a volunteer for the Shelby County Fair.
She graduated from Shelbyville High School in 1939.
Ms. Thurston was a member of Fairland Order of Eastern Star Lodge No. 359.
She loved to garden, raise flowers and play euchre; and enjoyed card clubs.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St.
Eastern Star services will be conducted at 1 p.m. followed by the funeral services at the funeral home, with the Rev. Corlis Dees II officiating.
Interment will be in Second Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Johnson County.
