Marian Louise Hickman, 89, of Shelbyville died Saturday, Sept. 25, 2010, at Major Hospital.
Born May 17, 1921, in Shelbyville, she was the daughter of James Russell and Alice (Price) Rice. She married Charles W. Hickman on Sept. 5, 1939, and he preceded her in death on Oct. 28, 1991.
Survivors include daughter, Linda (husband, Larry) Johnson of Nancy, Ky.; grandchildren, Darcy (husband, Chuck) Harris of Virginia Beach, Va., and Brett McQueary, Gail (husband, Dale) Flatt and Jill (husband, Dan) Chumbley, all of Russell Springs, Ky.; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Harold Hickman; one brother; and grandsons, Todd Hickman and Brian Hickman.
Mrs. Hickman was a lifelong resident of Shelbyville.
She was a homemaker and a farmer.
Mrs. Hickman was a member of Mount Gilead Baptist Church and its ABW, Order of Eastern Star No. 73 Naamah Chapter, McQuiddy Rebecca Lodge No. 355, Country Clubber Extension Club, Shelby County Senior Citizens, Bear Paw Quilters Guild, and the Shelby County Historical Society. She received the Shelby County Older Woman Award; was nominated for Outstanding Community Service as a volunteer; was a charter member of United Firemen?s Auxiliary of Marietta and a member of 10th District Volunteer Firemen?s Auxiliary.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with Pastor Bryan Trotter officiating.
Burial will be in Miller Cemetery.
