Maried C. Wade, 98, of Shelbyville, passed away on Monday, June 8, 2009 at her residence.
Born January 30, 1911 in Ferdinand, she was the daughter of Robert A. and Ludwina C. (Roos) Eckstein. She married William C. Wade on June 26, 1935 and he preceded her in death in July 1955.
She is survived by daughter, Sharon Marie (Wade) Moore of Shelbyville; sister, Loretta Eckstein of Shelbyville; grandchildren, Melinda M. (husband, James) Weaver of Shelbyville and Gregory W. (wife, Tamara) Moore of Birmingham, Michigan; step-grandson, Michael Bates of Greenwood; great-grandchildren, Joshua D. Weaver, Austin D. Weaver, Mitchell G. Moore and Meredith G. Moore, step-great-grandchildren Kristy (husband, Jeff) Cox and Nathan Weaver; two step-great-great-grandchildren, Jordan Blevins and Chad Cox; numerous nieces and nephews, great-grand nieces and nephews and great-great grand nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Dorothea Stieneker and Helen Brown; brothers, Victor Eckstein, Francis Eckstein and Robert L. Eckstein.
Mrs. Wade lived in Shelby County since the age of five. Attended St. Vincent Catholic School and graduated from Waldron High School in 1929. She worked at International Harvester in Indianpolis for 32 years, retiring in 1975.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Local U.A.W. 98 Retiree club where she was treasurer for several years, St. Ann's Altar Society, Daughter's of Isabella and a 30 year member of St. Joe's Social Club, and Huntingburg Conservation Club.
She loved flower gardening, working in her yard and cooking. She was noted for her Angel Food Cakes.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St., with the rosary recited at 4:30 p.m.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 125 E. Broadway St., Shelbyville, with Father Chris Craig officiating. With music by Loretta Eckstein.
Interment will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
