Marjorie B. Champley, 96, formerly of Rossville, died Tuesday, July 4, 2017 at her daughter’s home in Shelbyville.
She was born January 1, 1921, in Kentland, the daughter of Michael Edward and Nellie (Smith) Hopkins. She married James Logan Champley on April 21, 1939, and he preceded her in death in 1979.
Marjorie is survives by her daughters, Linda “Lynn” Gillaspy and husband, Stephen, of Shelbyville, and Ann Heaton and husband, Curtis, of Dayton, Ohio; son, James R. Champley and wife, Mabel, of Rossville; grandchildren, Johanna Michel, Nathan Champley, Carrie Henry, Colleen Heaton, Tina Patterson, Aaron Champley and Corey Champley; great-grandchildren, Nathan, Andrew, Jessica, Brittany, Michael and Ashley; and great-great-grandchildren, Stephen, Blaine, Ali, Sophie and Clara.
She was also preceded in death by her parents.
Marjorie graduated from A.J. Kent High School in Kentland in 1938.
She was a member of the Kentland Christian Church.
Marjorie enjoyed sewing, quilting, embroidering and reading. She also enjoyed her family and the company of her cats.
She loved making her own clothing, as well as her children’s clothing.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, July 8, 2017 at Goodland Cemetery in Goodland, Indiana. Friends may gather one hour prior.
