Marjorie L. Carnine, 96, of Fairland, passed away Friday, December 4, 2015 at Major Hospital in Shelbyville.
She was born January 28, 1919, in Indiana, the daughter of Leonard and Clella (Apple) Hayes. On September 3, 1939 in Ladoga, she married Robert J. Carnine, and he preceded her in death on April 14, 1991.
Marjorie is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Jenks and husband, Larry, of Fairland; son, Donald Carnine and wife, Iris, of Adel, Georgia; sisters, Maxine Fouts of Lakeland, Florida, Carol Keck and husband, Bob, of Roachdale, and Janet Jones and husband, Warren, of Greenwood; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, Bob Hayes and Charlie Hayes.
Marjorie graduated in 1937.
She was a very active member of Fairland Christian Church and was the organist for several years.
Marjorie enjoyed sewing, reading and spending time with her family.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, December 7, 2015 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at the funeral home, with Pastor Leslie R. Bearden officiating.
Interment will be at Fairland Cemetery.
