Marjorie Lee McNamara, 93, of Shelbyville, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at her residence.
She was born September 17, 1921, in Shelbyville, the daughter of Ray Lee and Katherine Grace (Owens) McNamara.
Survivors include her cousins, Mardelle Merrill of Winter Park, Florida, Dale McNamara and wife, Carolyn and Karen McNamara all of Fountaintown; and best friend, Russell Boles and companion, Sheryl Burdine, of St. Paul and his family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; cousin, Delbert McNamara; fiance’, Gayle Morrison; and many other family members.
Marjorie graduated from Shelbyville Junior-Senior High School in 1939.
She taught at St. Joseph School.
Marjorie was a local artist and looked forward to showing her paintings at the Shelby County Fair for a total of 38 years.
Marjorie was a member of the Indiana Rifle Association and American Legion.
She enjoyed being outdoors watching people pass by and looking at her flowers.
Marjorie also leaves behind her cats, Blackie, Benjie and Candy. She was preceded by one of her favorite cats, Penelope, which she had for over 20 years.
A gathering of friends will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, December 6, 2014 at the First Presbyterian Church, 124 W. Broadway St. in Shelbyville.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the church, with Rev. Mark Morningstar officiating.
Services were entrusted to Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
