Marjorie N. (Goodwin) Smith, 95, of Shelbyville, died Wednesday, February 15, 2012, at Heritage House Convalescent Center. She was born December 6, 1916, in Geneva to Conard Goodwin and Eupha F. (Thompson) Goodwin. She married Claude Smith on December 31, 1947, and he survives in Shelbyville. Other survivors include a daughter, Patricia L. (husband, Wes) Butcher of Shelbyville; two granddaughters, Amy (husband, Heath) Dillon and Lori (husband, Cliff) Coffman; a grandson, Jeffrey (wife, Amanda) Butcher; three great-granddaughters, Katelynn Coffman, Haley Coffman and Reagan Dillon; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Donald Goodwin; and sister, Gladys Swinford. Mrs. Smith was a lifelong Shelby County resident. She was a farm wife and formerly ran the Geneva Telephone Exchange and worked at KCL. Mrs. Smith was a member of Geneva United Methodist Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher. She was also a charter member of Mystery-ettes Extension Homemakers Club. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, February 17, 2012 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, February 18, 2012 at the funeral home, with Rev. Douglas S. Finney officiating. Interment will be in Boggstown Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
