Marjory Strawn, 91, of Shelbyville, died Monday, April 3, 2006, at Major Hospital.
Born Jan. 21, 1915, in Clay County, she was the daughter of the late Lewis Cleveland and Lelah Gertrude (Bare) Hostetler. She married Thomas Graeme Strawn on Aug. 19, 1939, and he survives.
Other survivors include one son, Thomas Brent Strawn of Glendale, Ariz.; one daughter, Karen S. Roberts of Indianapolis; aunt, Naomi Ditto of Sand Springs, Okla.; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and several cousins.
She was preceded in death by one sister and two brothers.
Mrs. Strawn retired as a teacher in 1979 from Shelbyville Central Schools and worked as a substitute teacher several years after that. She began her teaching career in Hymera, Ind., in 1935.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Psi Iota Pi sorority, Indiana Retired Teachers Association and Shelbyville Central Retired Teachers Association.
Mrs. Strawn enjoyed the Bible study groups in which she participated.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Freeman Family Funeral Homes, Carmony-Ewing Broadway Chapel, 232 W. Broadway St.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Gary W. Huffman and Gary E. Roberts officiating.
Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
