Marshall D. Swazay, Sr. 69 of Waldron passed away Saturday, February 6, 2009 at Hospice Inpatient Facility in Columbus.
Born November 16, 1940, he was the son of the late William D. and Audrey (Shepard) Swazay. He married Rose Alvey on August 3, 1960, and she survives.
Other survivors include his son, Marshall D. Jr. (wife, Cherie) Swazay of Shelbyville; daughters, Peggy (husband, Gary) Stephens of Shelbyville, Dianna (husband, Fred) Klein of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Karen Barnes of Tell City and Kimberly Swazay of Waldron; brothers, Hershal Swazay and Harry Swazay, both of Shelbyville; sisters, Joyce Hurley and Peggy Kuhn, both of Shelbyville and Billie Thomas of Louisiana; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by his brother, William Swazay Jr.; sisters, Gayle Chauvin, Psyche Leonard and Halcyon Haggard.
Mr. Swazay owned and operated Swazay Construction, semi-retiring in 2007.
He had attended Shelbyville High School.
Mr. Swazay enjoyed fishing and sports, especially watching the Colts.
A Gathering of Friends and Family will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, February 11, 2010 at the Banquet Hall at the Eagle's Lodge in Shelbyville, Indiana
