Martha A. Schlick

Martha A. Schlick, 93, of Shelbyville, died Monday, June 19, 2006, at Heritage House Convalescent Center. Born Sept. 17, 1912, in Shelbyville, she was the daughter of John and Edna (Gallagher) Bansbach. She married Louis Schlick on Jan. 2, 1937, and he preceded her in death on Nov. 24, 1974. Survivors include one daughter, Ailene (husband, Robert) Schlick of Shelbyville; two sons, John (wife, Nancy) Schlick of Franklin and David (wife, Kathryn) Schlick of Poulsbo, Wash.; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, James Bansbach, Joseph Bansbach, Morris Bansbach, Jack Bansbach and one infant brother; three sisters, Helen M. Riemenschneider, Justine Shaner and Frances Bansbach; and one grandson. Mrs. Schlick was a homemaker and previously had been employed in the food service department at Comell University in Ithaca, N.Y., from 1931 to 1933. She later was employed at the Ritz Theater, Plymate Cleaner and Dellekamp Cleaners, all in Shelbyville. She had attended St. Joseph High School and graduated in 1930 from St. Agnes High School Academy in Indianapolis. Mrs. Schlick was a member of St. Vincent Catholic Church and had been a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church for many years. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., with the rosary recited at 7:30 p.m., on Wednesday at Freeman Family Funeral Homes, Carmony-Ewing Broadway Chapel, 232 W. Broadway St. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Vincent Catholic Church, 4218 E. Michigan Road, with the Rev. Paul Landwerlen officiating. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
