Martha Elizabeth Theobald

Martha Elizabeth Theobald, 89 of Shelbyville passed away Friday, November 2, 2007 at Ashford Place Health Campus. Born July 9, 1918, in Shelbyville, she was the daughter of Monte Ora and Maude (McFall) Nickles. She married Charles Edmond "Ed" Theobald on January 16, 1942, and he preceded her in death on June 11, 2001. Survivors include several nieces and nephews, including Phyllis Bowers of Shelbyville; and several great-nieces and -nephews. She also was preceded in death by her parents, five sisters and two brothers. Mrs. Theobald had been a sales clerk and retired from the former Parks Belk Department Store in Shelbyville. She was a member of Little Blue River Baptist Church and Morristown Eastern Star, where she served as past worthy matron. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., with an Eastern Star service at 7:30 p.m., Sunday at Freeman Family Funeral Homes, Carmony-Ewing Harrison Street Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Robert Langdon officiating. Interment will be in Bennett Cemetery in Shelby County.
