Martha Jean Ford, 71, of Morristown, went home to be with the Lord Friday, February 6, 2015 at Hancock Regional Hospital in Greenfield.
She was born June 23, 1943, in Huntington, West Virginia, the daughter of Leonard Allen and Helen Mae (Allen) Wallace. On November 15, 1958, she married her husband of 56 years, Albert “Jay” Ford, and he survives.
Also surviving is her son, Alex J. Ford of Morristown; daughter, Debbie S. Murphy and husband, Tim, of Indianapolis; sisters, Ada, Tiney and Skeets; brother, Joey; grandchildren, Derrick Adam Gaskey, Darron Albert Coy and Kayla Nicole Ford; great-grandchildren, Dayton Avent Gaskey and Alexia Coy; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Alex J. Ford; sister, Mona Ann Dyer; and brother, Wally Wallace.
Martha formerly attended Pauline Missionary Baptist Church in Indianapolis.
She had previously worked at RCA and Antiques and More.
Martha had owned and operated “Marty’s Thrift Shop” in Fountaintown.
She was a member of numerous poetry clubs.
Martha was an avid writer and poet.
A gathering of friends will be from 10:30 to 11:30 am, Saturday, February 14, 2015 at Shelbyville Community Church, 720 N 325E, Shelbyville.
A memorial services will be at 11:30 am Saturday, officiated by Shelbyville Community Church.
Services entrusted to Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
