Martha L. Robins

Martha L. "Sport" Robins, 93, of Franklin, died Thursday, June 1, 2006, at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Franklin. Born May 6, 1913, in Shelby County, she was the daughter of Milton H. and Margaret (Maple) Robins. Survivors include one niece, Sally Robins (husband, Donald) Sweet of Shelbyville; one nephew, Tom (wife, Monika) Robins of Shelbyville; three great-nieces, Rene Lummer, Robin Tillie and Dannette Erickson; two great-great-nieces, Nylah Lummer and Dana Tillie; two great-great-nephews, Evan Lummer and Daniel Tillie; and 11 step nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, David Robins and Howard Robins. Miss Robins was a lifelong Shelby County resident. She had owned the Credit Bureau of Shelbyville for 40 years and the Credit Bureau of Johnson County for 25 years, retiring in 1994. Miss Robins graduated from Shelbyville High School in 1932 and from Terhune Business School. She was a member of First United Methodist Church for more than 60 years, Naamah chapter No. 73 Order of Eastern Star for more than 50 years, and Friends of the Library. She was a former member of the Shelby County Historical Society. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Freeman Family Funeral Homes, Carmony-Ewing Harrison Street Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the First United Methodist Church 34, W. Washington St., with the Rev. Robert Campbell officiating. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church, 34 W.
