Mary Ann McVey, 83, of Shelbyville, passed away Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at Franciscan St. Francis Health in Indianapolis.
She was born July 25, 1933, in Shelbyville, the daughter of Harry Anderson and Rosamond (Coulston) Breeding.
On June 5, 1951, she married her loving husband, Donald D. McVey, at the Hillside Chapel in Kodiak, Alaska. After getting married in Alaska, they continued their love for travel throughout the years. In celebration of their 65th anniversary, they renewed their wedding vows this year.
Mary Ann is survived by her husband, Donald D. McVey of Shelbyville; daughters, Deborah L. Zerr and husband, Robert, of Bloomington, and Linda J. Gaudin and husband, Jim, of Shelbyville; grandchildren, Shane Towne and wife, Brittney, Amber Connor and husband, James, and Katie Smith and husband, David; and great-grandchildren, Sophie Connor, Desmond Towne, Graham Smith and Meara Towne.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Norman Anderson; and sister, Dorcas Myers.
Mary Ann graduated from Shelbyville High School in 1951.
She was a member of First Baptist Church for 69 years, and she served as a trustee for three years.
Mary Ann began working at Shelby National Bank. She retired from Chase Bank, after 25 years of service, where she was Vice President and a loan officer.
She enjoyed eating out, crocheting, Roger Whittaker music, listening to books on tapes and was known for sharing a funny joke with everyone she met.
Mary Ann loved their many dogs over the years. She also loved collecting button dolls and bells.
Her favorite times were spent with her family, enjoying her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A gathering of friends will be 10 a.m. to noon, Saturday, December 31, 2016 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
A celebration of Mary Ann’s life will be at noon Saturday at the funeral home, with Rev. Harvey Weaver officiating.
Inurnment will be at Miller Cemetery in Shelby County.
