Mary B. (Thompson) Weakley, 96, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, January 15, 2017 at the Franklin Methodist Home in Franklin.
She was born October 13, 1920, in Morgantown, the daughter of the late Joy and Etoilie (Hamner) Thompson. Mary B. married Wilbur O. “Wib” Weakley on December 25, 1938, and he preceded her in death in 1994. In addition to her husband, Mary was preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy Morris; and her brother, Harold Thompson.
Mary graduated from Shelbyville High School.
She was a member of the Evangelical United Church of Christ.
Soon after they married Mary B. and Wib moved to Ann Arbor, Michigan for better job opportunities. After a few years they returned to Shelbyville where Mary worked as a receptionist at Kennedy Car Liner until she retired.
Mary B. enjoyed being with friends and family and always remembered to send a note to those celebrating a special day.
She is survived by three nieces, Karen Copeland and husband, Jim, of New Castle, Sharon Lattchea of Brownsburg, and Jo Ann Vineyard and husband, Jim, of Oklahoma; and four nephews, Mac Moore and wife, Carol, of Pittsboro, Woodrow Moore and wife, Sandy, of North Carolina, Gerel Thompson and wife, Lynn, of Greencastle, and Robert Weakley and wife, Jerri, of Shelbyville.
Visitation for family and friends will be from 11 a.m. to noon, Thursday, January 19, 2017 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
The funeral service will immediately follow with the Rev. Alecia Gross officiating.
Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Shelbyville.
