Mary Carolyn Schneider, 92, of Shelbyville, passed away Saturday, September 6, 2014, at her residence.
She was born March 28, 1922, in Shelbyville, the daughter of the late Clarence R. and Jessie (Abel) Cayton. On October 29, 1944, she married her husband on 69 years, Richard F. Schneider, and he survives.
Other survivors include her son, Dr. R. Alan Schneider and wife, Barbara, of Morristown; daughter, Sara Ann Smith and husband, Eric, of Eagle, Colorado; five granddaughters, Dr. Jennifer Davis and husband, Peter, Melissa Schneider, Katie Marcoux and husband, Joe, Kelly Fleming and husband, Eric and Kimberly Royle and husband, Nolan. Also, surviving are seven great-grandchildren, Maxwell and Estella Davis, Miako and Titus Marcoux, Avery Fleming and Brody and Bentley Royle.
Mrs. Schneider was a lifelong Shelbyville resident and graduated from Shelbyville High School in 1940.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, the Major Hospital Guild and a volunteer in the hospital gift shop for 25 years. She was a member at large of the Zeta Lambda chapter of the Delta Theta Tau Sorority.
Mrs. Schneider was a receptionist and assistant in the office of Dr. Stephan VanCleve for 22 years.
More than anything in life she loved her family, circle of friends and love of gardening.
In accordance with her wishes there will be no calling or funeral service.
A private family service will be directed later by Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
