Mary E. Brokering

Mary E. Brokering, 89, of Shelbyville passed away Sunday, November 4, 2007. Born April 27, 1918, in Shelbyville, she was the daughter of Walter and Nellie Gelaine (Bausback) Sosbe. She married William H. "Bill" Brokering on August 12, 1939, and he preceded her in death on September 15, 2000. Survivors include her son, Larry W. (wife, Meridith) Brokering of Shelbyville; daughter, Susan A. (husband, William) Southworth of Shelbyville; brother, Charles Sosbe of Bozier city, La; sisters, Elinora Imel of Fountaintown and Ida Parrott of Shelbyville; grandchildren, Charles Brokering, Marlou(husband, Marc) Kirk, Todd (wife, Kim) Brokering, Ryan (wife, Angel) Brokering, Rod (wife, Tonya) Brokering, Chris Southworth and William (wife, Jackie Southworth Jr.; 15 great-grandchildren; four stepgreatgrandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She also was preceded in death by her parents; son, William H. "Bill" Brokering Jr.; sister, Edna Baker; brothers, Walter "Pete" Sosbe, Henry Sosbe, Richard Sosbe and infant Carl Sosbe; and grandson, Steven Brokering. Mrs. Brokering was employed at General Electric from 1955 to 1958; Dage Electric in Beech Grove from 1961 to 1972; and Bendix Electric from 1972 until retiring in 1985. She graduated from Moral Township High School in 1937. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Freeman Family Funeral Homes, Carmony-Ewing Harrison Street Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
