Mary Ellen Plunkett, 89, of Shelbyville died Thursday, Feb. 15, 2007, at Ashford Place Health Campus.
Born June 4, 1917, in Shelby County, she was the daughter of John and Pearl (Kelley) Firsich. She married Robert E. "Bob" Plunkett on Jan. 18, 1947, and he preceded her in death on Oct. 3, 1993.
Survivors include son, James (wife, Kathy) Plunkett of Shelbyville; daughters, Beverly (husband, Arthur) Claridge and Joyce (husband, James) Ford, both of Shelbyville, Mary (husband, Gary) Huntsman of Waldron, Sharon (husband, Steve) Vickers of Kennesaw, Ga., and Kathy (husband, Gary) Hewitt of Flat Rock; grandchildren, Brian Richardson, Lynn Floyd, Jennifer Sosbe, Jason Ford, Sarah Plunkett. Stacy Trueblood, Travis Huntsman, Kelly Adams, Allison Vickers, Michelle Vickers, Carrie Chandler and Karla Krise; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by her parents.
Mrs. Plunkett was a homemaker and had been employed at the First Federal Savings & Loan Co. from 1938 to 1942 and served on the Selective Service Board from 1942 to 1945.
She graduated from Waldron High School in 1935.
Mrs. Plunkett was a member of St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church and St. Anne's Altar Society.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the rosary recited at 4 p.m., at Freeman Family Funeral Homes, Carmony-Ewing Broadway Chapel, 232 W. Broadway St.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church, 4218 E. Michigan Road, with the Rev. Paul Landwerlen officiating.
Burial will be in St. Vincent Cemetery in Shelby County.
