Mary Ellen Campbell, 74, of Shelbyville passed away Friday, January 6, 2012 at Miller's Merry Manor in Rushville.
Born March 12, 1937 in Quinwood, West Virginia, she was the daughter of Howard Legg and Fred Mae (Brown) Johnson.
Survivors include her sons, David A. Campbell and Columbus (wife, Patty) Campbell, both of Shelbyville; daughters, Melissa Frogge of Shelbyville, Stella Benefiel of Westport and Freda (husband, Tony) Swinehart of Rushville; brothers, James Johnson of Ripatoe, West Virginia, Donald Johnson of Montgomery, West Virginia, and Tony Johnson of Buffalo Gap, Texas; sisters, Becky Taylor, Betty Jo Stuart and Kathy Stuart, all of Shelbyville and Joyce Ann Wilson of Ridgeway, South Carolina; 18 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, David A. Campbell; son, Matthew Campbell; brothers, Landon H. "Sam" Brown and Danny Johnson; and sister, Sue Kennan.
Mrs. Campbell retired from Knauf Insulation after 22 years of service.
She was a member of Vaughn Baptist Church in Vaughn, West Virginia and attended Little Blue River Baptist Church.
Mrs. Campbell collected Cabbage Patch Dolls and cardinals.
She graduated from Summersville, West Virginia High School in 1955.
Mrs. Campbell loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm, Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville and at Pennington Funeral Home, 331 Main St. in Gauley Bridge, West Virginia on Friday, January 13, 2012 from 11 am to 1 pm.
Funeral services will be at Pennington Funeral Home at 1 pm, with Rev. Paul E. Young officiating.
Interment will be in Vaughn Community Cemetery.
