Mary Ellen Cole

September 23, 1935 — April 17, 2009

Mary Ellen Cole, 73, of Shelbyville passed away Friday, April 17, 2009 at her residence. Born September 23, 1935 in Shelbyville, she was the daughter of Maurice Archibald and Beatrice Melvina (Montrose) Patterson. She married Gaylord C. Cole, and he survives. Other survivors include son, Kent (wife, Margretta) Cole of Shelbyville; daughters, Beverly (husband, Greg) Williams of Walkerton, IN, and Diana Bannister of Morristown; grandson, Matt (wife, Audree) Cole; granddaughters, Cassie Cole, Tanya Cole, Savanna Bannister and Kristen Bannister; and four great-grandchildren; Maycee, Maya, Miley and Thane; step-grandson, Adrian (wife, Joy) Williams. She was preceded in death by her parents. Mrs. Cole was a graduate of Morristown High School in 1953, and attended Butler University. She was a member of Freeport United Methodist Church and Liberty United Methodist Church; she was Reagent of the Mary Mott Green Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution; Shelby County and Indiana Historical Societies; Shelby County Genealogical Society; Past President of Shelby County Extension Homemakers and Past District Representative of Indiana Extension Homemakers, NNO Home Economics Club, Purdue CARAT; Mamas Red Hat Society; Board of Directors at Grover Museum; Secretary of Concord Cemetery Board; National Rifle Association; Bass Anglers Association and many other organizations. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm Monday at Frazier Chapel of Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 124 E. North St., Morristown, Indiana. Funeral services will be at 10 am Tuesday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Concord Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Grover Museum, 52 W. Broadway St., Shelbyville, Indiana 46176.
