Mary Evelyn Giddens, 82, of Indianapolis, formerly of Shelbyville, passed away Monday, December 23, 2013 at St. Vincent Hospice in Indianapolis.
She was born August 18, 1931, in Connersville, the daughter of Raymond R. and Violet (Smith) Manning. She married Ernest Giddens, and he preceded her in death on January 9, 1990.
Survivors include her brother-in-law, Robert Thurston of Shelbyville; nieces, Sherri (husband, Roger) Burt of Bengal, Debbie (husband, John) Pile and Anita (husband, Lee) Strosnider, both of Shelbyville; nephews, Terry (wife, Shirley) Thurston of Indianapolis and Ronald (wife, Deana) Thurston of Shelbyville.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Ruth Thurston.
Mary graduated from Boggstown High School in 1950.
She was a member of Trinity Tabernacle in Indianapolis, and was very involved in the church.
Mary was a farm wife. She retired from Van Camps in Indianapolis, after 20 years of service in 1983.
She enjoyed camping and loved animals.
Visitation will be from 9 to 10 am, Monday, December 30, 2013 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St.
Graveside services will be at 10 am, Monday at Second Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Johnson County, with Rev. Dianne Coates officiating.
