Mary Frances Thurston, 97, of Shelbyville passed away Wednesday, April 7, 2010 at Major Hospital.
Born July 26, 1912 in Shelby County, she was the daughter of Elza and Lela (Adams) Babb. She married Ralph Thurston on September 28, 1932, and he preceded her in death on May 28, 2000.
Survivors include her son, Robert (wife, Ruth) Thurston of Shelbyville; brother, James Babb of Shelbyville; sister, Edwina Eberhart of Shelbyville; five grandchildren; nine great-great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; brother, Raymond Babb and sisters, Gladys L. Jones and Martha LeBrandt.
Mrs. Thurston retired in 1975 from Admiral after 35 years of service, she also formerly worked at Albert's Furniture Factory, Garment Factory, Thomas Miks and Adler's Dress Shop.
She was a member of Bengal Christian Church and the Ladies Aide Group.
Mrs. Thurston was a past member of the Moose Lodge.
She attended Shelbyville High School.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, April 10, 2010 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with Pastor Dan Owens officiating.
Interment will be in Second Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
