Mary Jane Lisher, 81, of Brandenton, Fla., died Monday, May 7, 2007, at Sarasota Memorial Hospital in Sarasota, Fla.
Born Aug. 24, 1925, in Shelby County, she was the daughter of Dale S. and Mary (Westerfield) Rafferty. She married Leonard B. Lisher, and he survives.
Other survivors include her sons, James (wife, Martha) Lisher of Shelbyville and John (wife, Mary) Lisher of Indianapolis; daughter, Cynthia Lisher of Waycross, Ga.; and grandchildren, Dr. Jennifer Lisher (husband, Dan) Springer of Kettering, Ohio, Capt. James Lisher II of the U.S. Air Force, and John P. Lisher of Indianapolis.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Mrs. Lisher was formerly of Shelbyville and a longtime resident of Indianapolis.
She was a homemaker and previously had been a registered nurse at Methodist and Winona hospitals in Indianapolis and later volunteered at the Veterans Hospital in St. Petersburg, Fla.
Mrs. Lisher graduated from Morristown High School and received a degree from Methodist Hospital School of Nursing.
She was a former member of Tara Golf and Country Club in Brandenton.
Mrs. Lisher enjoyed her many friends in Indiana and Michigan.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Hanover Cemetery in Morristown, with the Revs. Bill Horner and Jeffrey Castetter officiating.
Freeman Family Funeral Homes, Carmony-Ewing Chapels, 819 S. Harrison St., is handling the arrangements.
