Mary Jane Oldham

Mary Jane Oldham, 81, of Shelbyville, formerly of Flat Rock, passed away Wednesday, April 2, 2008, at Heritage House Convalescent Center. Born June 21, 1926, in Delaware County, she was the daughter of John and Snoda (Wilson) Westerman. She married Billy J. Oldham on October 26, 1946, and he preceded her in death on June 16, 2004. Survivors include her daughters, Beverly (husband, Alton) Adkins of Shelbyville and Barbara (husband, Donald) Adkins of Flat Rock; grandchildren, Wendi Benson, Leslie (Benson) Hendrickson, Michael Adkins, Michele Adkins Gilbert and Allen Adkins; and 10 great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by her parents, one son and one daughter. Mrs. Oldham was a former Flat Rock resident. She had been a telephone operator in her early years and then managed Compton's Cow Palace from 1969 to 1976. Mrs. Oldham was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and American Legion Auxiliary Post No. 70. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Freeman Family Funeral Homes, Carmony-Ewing Harrison Street Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Chris Craig officiating. Interment will bein St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
