Mary Josephine Latshaw

Mary Josephine Latshaw, 95, passed away September 13, 2008, at the Masonic Home in Franklin. Born May 8, 1913, in Bicknell, she was the daughter of Chester E. and Bessie H. (Smith) Smelser. She married Ralph Parkhurst Latshaw on September 15, 1946, and he preceded her in death on April 6, 2007. Survivors include her sister-in-law, Betsy (husband, John) Bryan; nephew, J. Daniel (wife, Debbie) Bryan; great-nieces, Brittany Bryan and Christiana Bryan; and great-nephew, Stephen Bryan, all of Lawrenceville, Georgia. She also was preceded in death by her parents. Mrs. Latshaw was raised in Shelbyville and lived in Bloomington for many years prior to moving to the Masonic Home. She was employed at Indiana Bell before she married. Mrs. Latshaw graduated from Shelbyville High School in 1931. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Shelbyville and Order of Eastern Star No. 73. Visitation will be from 5:30 to 7 p.m., Tuesday at Freeman Family Funeral Homes, Carmony-Ewing Harrison Street Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. An Eastern Star services will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, followed by funeral services with the Rev. Ralph Mitchell officiating. Interment will be in Manilla Cemetery in Manilla.
