Mary Lou Haehl, 89, of Rays Crossing, passed away Monday, May 29, 2017 at MHP Medical Center in Shelbyville.
She was born February 25, 1928 in Shelbyville, the daughter of Clifford and Ethel (McCreary) Case. On November 24, 1946, she married Floyd Haehl, and he preceded her in death on July 17, 1989.
Mary Lou is survived by her daughter, Cindy Fox and husband, Denny, of Columbia, Missouri; sons, Danny Haehl and wife, Lee Ann of Rays Crossing; Nathan Haehl and wife, Sherrie, of Jupiter, Florida, and Brian Haehl and wife, Pat, of Shelbyville; sister, Janis Sue Marek of New Albany; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; brother, Clinton Case; sisters, Pat Theobald and Neva Lynn Myers; and great-grandchildren, Keaton Thomas Haehl and Ava Grace Mandat.
Mary Lou was a member of Zion United Church of Christ, where she was a member of the Women’s Guild.
She graduated from Shelbyville High School in 1946.
Mary Lou was a Certified Nursing Assistant at Major Hospital, retiring with 30 years of service.
She enjoyed reading, traveling, growing flowers and working jigsaw and crossword puzzles.
Mary Lou loved spending time with her family. She was a great cook and had a 20 year tradition of Saturday lunches she lovingly prepared for her family and friends.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 2, 2017, at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 3, 2017, at the funeral home.
Interment will be at Zion Cemetery in Shelby County.
