Mary Lou Simpson, 82, of Shelbyville, passed away Thursday, May 21, 2015 at Morristown Manor in Morristown.
She was born May 30, 1932, in Evansville, the daughter of William Allen Jr. and Mabel (Whitaker) Wright. She married E. Richard Simpson in January of 1956, and he preceded her in death on March 28, 1989.
Mary Lou is survived by her daughter, Kathy Simpson of Shelbyville; sons, Steven Simpson and wife, Christine, of Darien, Connecticut, Timothy Simpson of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Andrew Simpson and wife, Sarah Ferrario, of Silver Spring, Maryland; brothers, Ray Wright and wife, Ann, and Warren Wright and wife, Teena, both of Newburgh; and grandchildren, William Simpson, Katherine Simpson, Oliver Simpson and Isabella Simpson.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Carolyn Hein.
Mary Lou graduated from Newburgh High School in 1950.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Shelbyville, P.E.O. Sisterhood Chapter ES and Society of FBI Alumni, Inc.
Mary Lou was formerly a legal secretary for Bob and Warren Good and Stubbs Law Firm. In the early 1950s, she worked for the FBI in Washington DC and Indianapolis. She wrote a column for the Shelbyville News from the late 1970s to the late 1990s.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, May 31, 2015 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, June 1, 2015 at the funeral home, with Rev. Jim Cherry and Rev. Bob Campbell officiating.
Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Shelbyville.
