Mary Louise Clayton

Mary Louise Clayton passed away Tuesday, October 4, 2011, in Hemet, California, at the age of 89. Mary was born on December 12, 1921 to IThamer and Pearl DeBaun in Shelby County, Indiana. She was one of five children. Mary married Russell Lowell Clayton on January 16, 1941 in Shelbyville, Indiana. Mary graduated from Mt. Auburn High School in 1940 and was a member of Mt. Gilead Church. She worked in Real Estate in Michigan for a short period of time and she retired from the County of Orange in 1976 after working as an account clerk for the School Claims Department and the Road Department. Mary enjoyed spending time with family and friends, quilting and crocheting. She had treasured collections of teddy bears and cardinals. Mary is survived by her beloved husband, Russell, of more than 70 years; her son, Stephen (wife, Evelyn) Clayton; seven grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and her sisters, Marie Pile and Ada (Wertz) Fromer. She was preceded in death by her sons, Dennis and Bruce and brothers, Martin and Cecil. Mary was warm, kind and compassionate. She will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donation be made to V.N.A.I.C. (Visiting Nurse Association of the Inland Counties). Condolences may be sent to Russell Clayton, 800 W.
