Mary Hazel Jones Massey

Mary Hazel Jones Massey, 57, of Shelbyville, passed away Saturday, October 7, 2023, at her home.

She was born November 25, 1965, in Shelbyville, the daughter of Richard W. “Dick” Sr. and Joanne (Stites) Jones.  On January 20, 2001, she married Marc Massey, and he preceded her in death on November 18, 2018.

Mary is survived by her sons, Michael Snepp and wife, Megan, of Franklin, and Cory Kennedy of Indianapolis; daughter, Maggie Stafford of Shelbyville; brothers, Richard W. Jones Jr. of Greensburg, Robert W. Jones and wife, Monique, and Jeremy C. Jones and wife, Ashley, both of Shelbyville; sisters, Deborah S. Jones and Cynthia L. Murphy, both of Shelbyville, and Christina N. Brown of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Grayson, Madison and River; dearest beloved friend, Theresa Moore of Shelbyville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to Marc, Mary was preceded in death by her parents; and sisters, Rebecca D. “Becky” Jones and Jennifer Lynn “Jenny” Hardin.

In 1984, she graduated from Shelbyville High School, where she was an avid swimmer.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Shelbyville.

Mary was a caregiver for Infinity Care and was a teachers assistant for Shelbyville Central Schools.

She enjoyed being outdoors, especially on the water going boating.

Mary loved spending time and creating memories with her grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, October 12, 2023, at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, October 13, 2023, at the funeral home.

Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Shelbyville.
