Mary N. Dearinger, 96, of Shelbyville, passed away Friday, November 9, 2012 at Heritage House Convalescent Center. She joined her husband and family at the gates of heaven.
She was born the daughter of James and Ida Mae (Sims) McCroskey on October 2, 1916, in McKee’s Rock, Pennsylvania. Mary graduated from Arlington High School in Arlington. It was through her best friend in school that she met her husband, Herbert Malcolm Dearinger. They were married on March 4, 1937 in Rush County.
They had three children and they survive daughters, Karen (husband, Duane) Stout of Roann and Gloria Reynolds of Kansas City, Kansas; son, Dean Dearinger of Warsaw; and ten grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren and ten great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Malcolm; four brothers, Homer, Lona Ray, Virgil and James Alvy; two sisters, Clara Ethel and Goldie; triplet great-grandsons, Connor, Cogan and Casey Daugherty .
Mrs. Dearinger had formerly worked at White’s Institute in Wabash for 18 years and received an award for her dedicated service to children.
She enjoyed reading her Bible, watching game shows, Lawrence Welk and The Golden Girls, crafting, especially crocheting and making windsocks.
Mrs. Dearinger attended Good Shepherd Methodist Church and was a member of West Eel River Brethren Church near Silver Lake.
Visitation will be from 12 noon to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, at the funeral home, with Jeremy Sweeten officiating.
Interment will be in Arlington Cemetery.
