Mary Rose Moorhead, 95, of Indianapolis, passed away Friday, May 2, 2014 at Fransican St. Francis Health in Indianapolis.
She was born October 18, 1918, in Shelby County, the daughter of George and Catherine (Hirschauer) Swope. She married Kenneth O. Moorhead on December 12, 1948, and he preceded her in death on September 26, 1999.
Survivors include her daughters, Denise Wilson of Hoffman Estates, Illinois and Donna Nahmias and husband, Joe, of Indianapolis; granddaughter, Stephanie Wilson of Washington D.C.; and nephews, James Wainscott and wife, Jona, Phillip Wainscott and wife, Darlene, and Mike Creed and wife, Annette.
She was also preceeded in death by her parents; brothers, John Swope, Eddie Swope and August Swope; and sisters, Catherine Creed, Mae Rose Swope and Fae Rose Swope.
Mary Rose graduated from Waldron High School in 1936.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, and attended Southport Presbyterian Church, where she was a member of “Duos”-Do Unto Others. Her other memberships included Concord Senior Center and Young at Heart, both in Indianapolis.
Mary Rose was a homemaker and enjoyed reading, sewing, crafts and going out to eat.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 125 E. Broadway St. in Shelbyville.
Interment will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
