Mary Theresia Lancaster, 94, of Shelbyville passed away Wednesday, July 9, 2008.
Born June 25, 1914, in Shelby County, she was the daughter of Nicholas and Ella (Price) Hotopp. She married Floyd E. Lancaster on September 23, 1934, and he preceded her in death on September 12, 1979.
Survivors include her daughter, Patricia (husband, Jim) McMichael of Camby; and son, Steve (wife, Pauline) Lancaster of Shelbyville; grandchildren, Lori (husband, George) Moncilovich of Poland, Ohio, David (wife, Stephanie McMichael of Grovetown, Georgia, Nick (wife, AnnMarie) Lancaster of Charlottesville, Virginia, Patrick Lancaster and Polly Lancaster, both of Shelbyville; Stephanie (husband, Kevin) Lancaster of Indianapolis, Indiana and great-grandchildren, George James Moncilovich, Ethan Moncilovich, Isaac Moncilovich, Quentin McMichael, Tyler McMichael, Alexandria Lancaster, Madeline Lancaster, Devin Speir, Mikey Lay, Kennedy Kidd and Logan Kidd.
She also was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Leonard Hotopp, Anthony Hotopp and Theodore Hotopp; and sisters, Mildred Miley and Barbara Broadstreet.
Mrs. Lancaster was employed at Sidlinger's Grocery until she married. She worked at Stephen's Shoes beginning in 1955 and then at Hub Shoes, retiring in 1984.
She was a past secretary to the Shelby County Central Democratic Committee and had been PTA president at Major School, a Girl Scout leader and a Cub Scout den mother.
Mrs. Lancaster was a lifelong member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Anne's Altar Society and Junior Coterie.
She enjoyed being involved with her children's activities and was a big Shelbyville High School sports fan.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, with the rosary recited at 4:30 p.m., at Freeman Family Funeral Homes, Carmony-Ewing Harrison Street Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 125 E. Broadway St. with Father Chris Craig officiating.
Interment will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
