Matthew Carey "Matt" Branson, 26, of Shelbyville, died Tuesday, July 19, 2005, at Methodist Hospital, in Indianapolis.
Born Dec. 10, 1978, in Shelbyville, he was the son of John C. Branson and Deborah L. (Briddle) King.
Survivors include his father and his fiancee, Leslie Humbles, both of Shelbyville; mother and stepfather, Kenneth James King of Shelbyville; three sisters, Amanda (husband, Chris) Pieroni of Westerville, Ohio, Tammara King of Hendersonville, Tenn., and Vicky Lane of Shelbyville; one brother, Brian King of Shelbyville; grandparents, Louis Wilson of Indianapolis and Earl and Jeane LeClerc of Shelbyville; and fiancee, Katie Knose of Shelbyville.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Andy King.
Mr. Branson was employed with Liberty Advanced Machine Inc., in Columbus, for eight months. He formerly had been employed at Hoosier Tool and Die, in Columbus, and J&L Tool, in Shelbyville.
He graduated in 1997 from Shelbyville High School, where he was a percussionist in the marching and pep bands, and attended Vincennes University, where he majored in machine tool and die.
Mr. Branson was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
He was a complete organ donor.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at Carmony-Ewing Harrison Street Chapel, Freeman Family Funeral Homes, 819 S. Harrison St.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Matthew Carey Branson Scholarship Fund, in care of Shelby County Bank, 29 E. Washington St., Shelbyville, IN 46176. The scholarship is for students with machine tool and die aptitude.
