Max Aaron Huffman, 56, of Shelbyville died Monday, Oct. 9, 2006, at Richard L. Roudebush Veterans Administration Medical Center in Indianapolis.
Born Sept. 15, 1950, in Kansas City, Mo., he was the son of Max Edward and Violet (Hancock) Huffman. He married Brenda G. Riggs on April 28, 1974, and she survives.
Other survivors include one son, Kyle A.L. Huffman of Shelbyville; one daughter, Karly K. Huffman of Shelbyville; his twin brother, Mark (wife, Mary) Huffman of Rushville; three sisters, Dorthy (husband, Tom) Payton of Monrovia, Ruth Ann (husband, Jess) Andis of Paoli and Carol (husband, Don) Cooper of Columbus; sister-in-law, Mary K. Willey Huffman of Waldron; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Huffman was employed with the United States Postal Service in Indianapolis as a clerk at the main branch.
He graduated in 1968 from Waldron High School, where he played basketball for the Mohawks and was a former record holder; and attended East Carolina University and a college in Lake City, Fla., where he played basketball.
Mr. Huffman had coached baseball for Waldron Little League.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in Da Nang, Vietnam.
Mr. Huffman was a 28-year member of the American Legion Post No. 70.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Freeman Family Funeral Homes, Carmony-Ewing Harrison Street Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jerri Cadwallader officiating.
Interment will be in Winchester Cemetery in Shelby County.
